Customs in productive labor

In the process of agricultural production, to start a production crop, the people of Thuy Nguyen often have the custom of having a ceremony to bring down the field (to enter the fields) on a day in the 5th or early 6th lunar month (Phu Ninh commune, Quang Thanh district). in May...). The custom of going down to the field later became the festival to go down to the field before each transplanting crop of the people in the district. To pray for a successful crop and favorable weather for production, people in the district have the custom of offering sacrifices to the god of agriculture (upper field) on the full moon of the seventh lunar month.

Time: The 1st of June of the lunar calendar every year

To pray for pests not to destroy crops, Thuy Nguyen people have the custom of killing insects on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. On that day, people dye their nails, eat sour fruits from early morning to kill insects, and take the leaves of some trees to dry to cook drinking water.

Wedding

The custom of asking (the name-calling ceremony) for the groom's family to ask the person carrying betel nut to ask the girl's age to compare whether the couple is the right age or not, and at the same time ask the girl's family to get married. Then conduct the interrogation ceremony: the groom's family brings the bride's gift to the girl's house to ask for it.

 

 

 

Wedding ceremony: The groom's family brings gifts to be married (usually including: pigs, rice, wine, tea...). Associated with the wedding ceremony is the custom of challenging the wedding. In some communes, the custom of challenging weddings is very heavy, such as in Thuy Duong, Cao Nhan, and Kien Bai. In the wedding ceremony, there is also the custom of welcoming the bride, the custom of offering the red silk, worshiping the father and the moon. After the wedding ceremony, it is customary to "return to face" after 3 days of marriage.
